Community Involvement
Independent Care is unique and innovative in
its approach to community and social services that can help members achieve
a higher quality of life. This approach is what sets the program apart from
other managed care plans and traditional Medicaid programs.
Independent Care’s Member Services staff arrange free transportation for
iCare
members to and from their medical appointments. Care coordinators assist in
finding support groups, locating affordable housing, food and clothing, and
suggesting opportunities for social interaction.
Independent Care works with durable medical equipment companies, social
service agencies, home care providers and advocacy groups. In addition, the
company collaborates with organizations and providers to ensure adequate
services for the disabled in facilities and other venues.
Not
only does iCare
collaborate with various organizations to meet the
needs of our membership, we support our community. We have been financial
sponsors for various community events given by groups such as the 16th
Street Community Health Center, Catholic Charities, the Center for Urban
Initiatives and Research, the Coalition of Wisconsin Aging Groups, the Down
Syndrome Association of Wisconsin, and the Wisconsin Alliance for Retired
Americans. Our employees formed a team to participate in the Komen Milwaukee
Race for the Cure, sponsored by the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.
We also supported the African World Festival and Festa Italiana VIP Day for
the disabled. At iCare,
we feel it is important that non-profit organizations be given financial
support for the services they provide to the community. |
